Overall 5th & 6th Class benefited hugely from participating in the DPSM programme since we introduced it to school. This year they were very engaged in the Science Investigations on “Absorption” and “Extracting DNA from a Banana” but on reflection I think these activities took too long to complete.
The pupils participated eagerly in the “Lego Workshop” (Technology) and designing their own “Periscopes” (Engineering) and developed their exploring and planning skills to the full.
I think the activity that most benefited the pupils was the “Show and Tell” as they took ownership of their own experiment researched it, collected their own apparatus/materials and collaborated in groups to present their findings to the other classes and teachers.
