On Friday the 18th of June 2021 the entirety of Rusheen National School had a sunny sports day in the Aghinagh GAA pitch. Mr. Twomey, who was the host of the event, and the 6th class students helped set up the many sports. The junior and senior infants were in great spirits for their first sports day in Rusheen. 6th class started their last sports day by showing the younger classes how to participate in some of the sports. Some of the sports being obstacle course, egg & spoon race, crawling race, sprints and the sack race which was a class favourite. Halfway through the sports day all the children paused their play to indulge in a savory lunch. During the day some of the juniors sang songs into the microphone which raised many of our spirits. After lunch the sports continued and later received treats from the teachers. At the time of two o’ clock the junior classes left the pitch while 6th class packed up the obstacles and tools. Afterwards 5th and 6th participated in a few rounds of tug of war to finish of the day. Overall it was a great sports day for the pupils of Rusheen National School.
