On the 19th of June, Rusheen boys and girls football teams competed in the Schools Football Blitz in Cill Na Martra. In all, five teams were involved in the blitz, Rusheen, Vicarstown, Cill Na Martra, Scoil Abàn Naofa and Scoil Fionn Barra. The boys teams first game was against Cill Na Martra and they won handsomely. The girls also won their first game against Cill Na Martra in a tough match. The boys second game was against Scoil Abàn Naofa and although being behind for a lot of the match, they came back to win by four points. The girls also played against Scoil Abàn Naofa in their second match and they won by two points. The next game the boys played was against Vicarstown and they won by two goals. The girls played Scoil Fionn Barra in their third match, but unfortunately they lost. Both teams made it to the finals, which is a huge achievement. The boys were playing Scoil Fionn Barra in the final and the girls were playing Cill Na Martra in their final. Depsite being down 7 points at half time, the boys made a great comeback and ended up winning the match by a single point. The girls were not so lucky in their final and lost out to a strong Cill Na Martra side. It was a very good day out and it was lots of fun.
