Rusheen N.S. had a most successful day at the Muskerry Final of the Scór na bPáistí held in Ovens on the 26th of February last. In dancing Rusheen N.S. came 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Set and second in the Figure. The Instrumental Group, playing “Denis Murphy’s Slide” and “Róisins Glory” also triumphed against tough opposition. There wasn’t a sound in Ovens hall as Rusheen’s superbly directed Novelty Act “Titanic – The Cork Story” captivated the audience and also won. Then in a nail biting final to the quiz, both Rusheen teams finished joint 1st on a maximum of 60 points each.. Anna Sheehan came 2nd in Solo Instrumental playing “St. Ann’s Reel”. Overall Rusheen were the best school in the competition and were awarded “The Denis O’Donovan Memorial Trophy”.
Rusheen N.S. participated in the County Semi-Final of Scór na bPáistí held in Millstreet recently. They took part in four events, Instrumental Music, Novelty Act, Quiz and Set Dancing. The Quiz Team and Set Dancers got through to the County Final, which will be held in Ovens on Sunday, March 25th at 2.30p.m.
