Rusheen N.S. was honoured recently when Brian O’Mahony, Irish National Rally Champion for 2012 visited the school.  Brian brought along The All-Ireland Rally Trophy, the Cecil Vard Memorial Cup, together with his Subaru Impreza S11,WRC car.  Pupils and teachers alike were enthralled as Brian explained all the features of his amazing car in which he had so many thrilling victories in the National Championship.

As well as signing a multitude of autographs, Brian also answered many  questions from a most enquiring audience.  He was very keen to outline the difference between driving a rally car and driving an ordinary car and the necessity for extreme safety to be shown at all times.  He encouraged pupils to always be careful on the roads and to wear their seat belts on every journey.  This message was further reinforced by Garda Ciaràn McCrory from Farnanes Station, who also paid a visit to the school.

It was a most interesting and educational experience for all.
