On Thursday 20th of June we raised our third Green Flag in Rusheen. Katherine McCarthy raised the flag. Katherine is a past pupil of Rusheen N.S. and she is also an Environmental Awareness Officer for the Cork County Council. We are very grateful that she could raise the flag for us.
We also had presentations for other awards such as the S.T.E.M. and the Irish Aid Awards.
The S.T.E.M.(Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) award involved doing lots of experiments in science using technology to make products and represent data e.g.making rockets, parachutes and water pumps in engineering and integrating maths into all these activities and finally showcasing our work to other classes and on our website.
The Irish Aid Awards involved the pupils in 5th and 6th class submitting a project on Global Awareness for which they won an award from the Dept of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
We had a barbecue to celebrate. Everyone had a great day.
