Today, on the 10th of June 2021, we began our Euro 2021 Soccer Tournament. After the cancellation of last year’s tournament all our pupils were even more excited and ready for the upcoming matches. The first match was between Belgium and France. Belgium hit an early lead when Evan, the team captain, scored the first goal of the tournament. France came back again when Jacob, the opposition’s team captain, scored a great goal to level the game. Soon the time was up and the two teams had drawn, 1-1. Next up was Italy and Croatia. James, the team captain, scored the opening goal of the match for Croatia. Sarah, playing for Italy, levelled the game with an amazing goal from outside the halfway line. Jack, Italy’s team captain, scored his first goal to put Italy into the lead. Then he struck again to put Italy ahead by two. Before Croatia knew it, Italy had scored another goal, this time by Lenny. Croatia hit into attack mode. James scored another goal but it was too late. The whistle blew and time was up. Italy won, 4-2. Tomorrow, on Friday, weather dependent, Italy will be playing Belgium and Croatia will go head-to-head with France. Is there any stopping Italy? Can Belgium do it? You’ll just have to wait until tomorrow!
