On Sunday the 3rd of December the Parents Association held our annual Christmas Market in Aghinagh Gaa Hall.
A large crowd gathered after mass; parents, past parents, grandparents and members of the wider community came to sample some home baking, a festive glass of mulled wine or indeed warm themselves with a cup of hot chocolate!
A Christmas atmosphere filled the air with carols playing in the background and Christmas Crafts decorating the hall. There was a buzz as people browsed the various side stalls, trying their hand at “guess the weight of the cake”, the bottle stall, selecting a Christmas wreath, buying tickets for a chance to win A Hotel Voucher or A Christmas Hamper, picking up Christmas gifts in the gift/voucher stall and procuring blocks, turf or coal for the months ahead.
Children busied themselves in the “Kids Corner” entertaining themselves-colouring festive pictures while waiting to have their faces painted. There was a fabulous cuddly Teddy for “Guess the Name of the Soft Toy”, which bigger children were also interested in, and by the end of the morning was named “Charlie”! There was a jar of sweets for whoever could guess the number of sweets in the jar. Children also bought raffle tickets/ Hot Chocolate jars and of course their own hand made Christmas craft.
The morning finished off with a lively auction of various items from Whiskey, Biscuits, Wine, a Keyboard, a DVD player and a beautifully decorated Christmas Tree.
Thank you to the local businesses who supported the Christmas Market, to all who were involved in running the event and to the parents for their donations and support.
Wishing parents, pupils and school staff, a very Happy Christmas!
