A Community Tradition: Nearly 50 Years of Rusheen’s Christmas Market
For nearly half a century, the Rusheen Christmas Market has been a cornerstone of festive cheer in our community. What began as a simple “Bring and Buy” event all those years ago has blossomed into a beloved annual gathering, drawing families and friends from near and far.
This year’s event, hosted by the Rusheen NS Parents Association, takes place on **Sunday, 1st December at 11:45 am in Aghinagh GAA Hall**. It promises to deliver all the festive charm and community spirit that’s made it a mainstay for generations.
The market is more than just a fundraiser; it celebrates connection and tradition in our wonderful locality. From the delicious cake sale to the beautifully crafted Christmas wreaths and tree sales, each stall is run by local volunteers dedicated to making the season brighter. There’s a hum of excitement as children try their luck in the kids’ raffle while adults indulge in mulled wine or bid on prized items in the lively auction.
But it’s not just about the goods and games. It’s about the stories shared over tea and homemade treats, the familiar faces you see year after year, the laughter that echoes through the hall, and the collective effort of a community coming together to support its school.
This year, you can win big with a fantastic hotel voucher raffle alongside a general raffle, bottle stall, and other surprises. Every euro raised will support Rusheen N.S., ensuring our local kids benefit from improved resources and opportunities.
So, whether you’re a long-time supporter or a first-time visitor, join us and experience the magic of nearly 50 years of Rusheen’s Christmas Market. Entry is free, and everyone is welcome—because, after all, the best way to spread Christmas cheer is to come together as a community.
