Our Christmas Concert was held on the shortest day of the year, 21st of December. All the pupils in the school took part in the concert. It started at 7.15p.m. We were all dressed up in costumes and had our faces painted. The title of our overall show was “Tommy the Theatre Cat Purrs Again”. Ròisìn O’Riordan was Tommy the Theatre Cat because she loves cats. At the start Tommy the Theatre Cat is very sad as the Rats are mocking him but he is helped by the Pied Piper to put all the rats in a trance and then they become children and watch some shows that Tommy puts on for them. The first show he put on was done by Junior and Senior Infants and it was called “Santa Goes on Strike”, then came 1st & 2nd Class with “The Wizard of Oz” after that 3rd & 4th Class performed “A Tale of Two Kings” and then 5th & 6th Class performed their own show called “Aladdin in Sherwood Forrest”.
There was a fabulous backdrop behind the stage, all done by Jessie. It showed characters from all the different shows. In the middle of the show the lights went off but Alan O’Shea fixed them and we were able to continue. The hall was packed and everybody enjoyed the show very much. At the end all the pupils of the school went up on stage and sang some Christmas Carols to finish off the night. Everybody enjoyed it.
