5th & 6th Class went on our Local History Tour with Mr. Coakley on the 22nd June.  We met in Caherbaroule and visited many archaeological sites there.  Firstly, we examined a stone circle which had 21 stones in it.  Then we looked at one of the turbines in the Burren Wind Farm.  It is 80m high and it’s circumference is 14m and the length of the blades is 45m.  Then we looked at a number of Galláin which are standing stones.  Some of these are 3m high.  We also visited two impressive forts and their diameters are 30m.  One is a dún or cathair and the other a lios or a rath.  Finally, we visited a Celtic/Greek Cross.  We had a very interesting day out.
