On Tuesday 3rd March, 5th Class accompanied by Ms. O’Mahony and Mr. Twomey our cameraman, headed off to the local Tribarac Recording Studio. Here, they had the amazing opportunity of having their very own recording session!
The Christmas project has been in the pipeline with several months. Ms. O’Mahony wrote the original Christmas song and recorded it in the studio a few months ago. Aidrian, of Tribarac Studios, worked on the backing track, before visiting the school last month where he did a fantastic workshop with 5th class and Ms. O’Mahony, working on the song and learning about the recording process.
A sea of Santa hats and Christmas jumpers skipped down the road as visions of hit records, fame and fortune danced in their heads!
The girls were first up to record. They sang their part through a few times, followed by the boys. A couple of the girls recorded their harmony lines next, followed by Ashling Kelleher and Jack O’Shea who then recorded their solo parts. All their hard work and practice was clear to hear, as their beautiful voices filled the Old Creamery.
Aidrian began working on the track and played a rough mix of the song for us before we finished up. It sounded great! What a thrill, listening to ourselves back in a recording studio!
It was such a wonderful and unique opportunity to record our own song in a professional recording studio under Aidrian’s guidance and expertise.
Ms. O’Mahony will work on the track with Aidrian in the coming weeks.
We are hugely grateful to Aidrian for giving us his time, his studio, his advice and expertise.
Stay tuned for our Christmas number 1!!!
