First Holy Communion

The First Holy Communion Ceremony for Rusheen N.S. took place on Saturday 18th of September at 11.00a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church Rusheen.  Six girls, Isabelle Leahy, Rachel Murphy, April O’Leary, Ruby O’Leary, Clodagh Roche and Danielle Sexton and five boys Jack Corkery, Seán Lehane, Donnacha O’Callaghan, Aaron O’Sullivan and Aidan Shannon received the Sacrament.

A very meaningful ceremony was celebrated by Fr. Joe.  The pupils, resplendent in their lovely suits and dresses, read prayers and carried gifts to the altar.  Michelle, Ava, Marie and Claire played and sang beautifully.  Fr. Joe thanked everybody who helped in any way, Jessie, Ina, Gill, Siobhán, Mary, the Church Maintenance Committee and of course the First Holy Communicants, their parents and grandparents.  Fr. Joe gave special mention to the wonderful way Miss Ambrose had prepared the class for this lovely ceremony.

Afterwards, in lovely Autumn sunshine, photos were taken and all that was missing was the traditional Communion Tea in the hall but despite this we are sure the pupils had a wonderful day at home with their families.
