First Holy Communion – 18th May, 2019

Parents Assoc.Comments Off on First Holy Communion – 18th May, 2019

On Saturday last in the picturesque setting at Rusheen Church, ten children received their First Holy Communion. After the lovely ceremony in the church, the children and their families, the school staff, organists and Fr. Joe, were all welcomed to Aghinagh Gaa hall for some refreshments, which were hosted by the Parents Association.

With such a large number for First Communion this year, the Hall was buzzing with chatter and children and many parents; some who were guests and others who volunteered to help out. The hall was tastefully decorated and each family assigned a table. This all added to a very pleasant atmosphere.

The children all had goodie bags and there were sandwiches and cakes a plenty. A beautiful cake to celebrate the occasion, had all the First Communicants names embossed in Gold, which was eagerly sampled by all in school on the Monday!

The weather was thankfully dry and the children were able to have a run around while the adults mingled in the hall. As the celebrations came to an end and families began to depart, Fr. Joe thanked all for their participation in the church and the hall, in making the day so memorable for all involved.

Congratulations to Michael-Jerh Corkery, Ajay Cronin, Ryan Lehane, Will Neville, Dylan O’ Shea, Oliver Roche, Will Wiseman, Ellie Barry, Savannah Cronin and Grace Deasy.

A big Thank You to the parents who again rallied to support the P.A. committee and helped out in whatever capacity; whether in the set-up on Friday night, serving/clean up in the hall Saturday, baking or making sandwiches, loaning us your white tablecloths or side plates, it was greatly appreciated. This lovely event couldn’t have happened without you.
